Is the emerald crab reef safe? Some websites say it is, some say it is not.

We've had emerald crabs in various reefs over the years and imo they're reef safe

Don't mean to HiJack steves thread.

Red Emeralds are NOT reef safe, learned that the hard way and watch them devistate SPS.

Green Emeralds are touch and go, I can honesty say we removed 2 out of our display tank because they were attacking the Nems in to.

Think it is certain species though

I have 3 red emeralds in my SPS tank, and all my SPS are doing great. They have been in there for at least 3 months now. And I have a green emerald that I have had for ages as well, I did have a green one that ate my zoa's though, now living in my sump as the GF wouldn't let me put it outside last winter when I saw it eating my AOG zoas.
Like everything in the hobby, something being reef safe is a guideline, not a rule.
