Just a quick question concernign overflows.... I will be making a custom overflow, and was wondering, what should I use to prevent fish and other critters from being sucked in to it. It will be a HOB (like the one found here http://www.sparklingfloorservice.com/tank/overflow.html )
TIA |

Most people cut teeth in the sides of the box that goes inside the tank. You can also cut a piece of acrylic or egg crate to cover the top of the box to keep snails from crawling over the teeth into the box.

I would skip the teeth and mount your overflow box about 3/4 to 1" below the top of the tank. and then rig a chunk of egg crate on the inside to prevent critters from crawling over.

thanks for the help. I got some egg crate from industrial paints and plastic. The had small pieces so that way I didn't have to buy huge pannels fron HD.
