Default Calcium reactor plumbing

So i've recently become fed up with feeding my calcium reactor with an aqualifter pump. My plan was to tie it into my return line from sump to the display tank.

since the majority of the retune line is flex hose i only have about 7" of hard pvc to tie the line into. I have a leftover self piercing saddle valve from my RO unit that i was thinking of using instead of buying a t-fitting and the scaling it down to john guest fitting. Since the seal is pressure fit I have visions of some leaks coming from the saddle valve. Anyone have experience with this?

flex hose as in vinyl or flex pvc??

T-fitting is still a very good choice.

A piercing saddle valve is made of metal and would probably rust with the salt water over time so probably not a good choice.

You can use the barb t fitting with 1/2" thread fitting. should be able to find them at Home Depot. $10 with change

I use a pvc t fitting (2x 1" x 1x 1/2" npt female thread) then have a 1/2 npt thread to jg fitting. Done.

Lowes has a good selection of jg fittings.

I've done the same as Mark in a few spots. Drilled a hole in a PVC fitting, tapped it, teflon taped a John Guest adaptor and threaded it in. No cutting or cementing plumbing means no down time.

Sorry for the crappy pic, but this is what I did. It comes right off my main return pump with it's own shut off valve.

It's a splitter valve for landscaping/plant irrigation. Works like a charm. You can get them in various multiple configurations and only cost a few bucks. Got mine at Home Hardware.
