Default Polishing My Water

Hi Everyone!

What methods could I use to make my water crystal clear? A UV will work but I don't like the idea of killing off the pods and beneficial organisms in my tank.

Carbon is made to clarify the water isn't it.

Or you could jump on the Chemipure bandwagon.

I have the filter socks already... Where would I put carbon? Hope that wasn't a stupid question.

You can put it in a filter bag & run it passive or in a reactor in your sump.

I have never heard a yes or no to this question but I think you could just make sure the carbon is in a mesh bag made for carbon.

Anyone else have an opinion on this.

In theory I suppose you could but I would not recommend it. You'll probably get carbon bits stuck to your sock making it a pain to clean. Also, not sure if Steve was asking if it was OK to put carbon in a filter sock that's servicing the return line or not? I would definitely not put carbon in that sock :-)

Even in its own media bag? Not that I disagree with you Mr. K, I do prefer to run in a reactor myself for many reasons.

Oh yes good point. If it is in a media bag then you can pretty much put it anywhere you want I think. Not sure why you would want to put it in a sock if it is already in a media bag tho?
