Default Bio Pellet Reactor - Not really DIY, more like a mod...

Just rebuilt and upgraded from my 72G bow front to a 90G. Been really interested in trying Bio Pellets, but didn't want to fork out the $$ on the Cad Light (even though they look cool) before knowing if it'll work.

I had a Phosban Reactor and variable pump sitting around and did this...

I basically flipped the reactor upside down and fed the pump into the normal "out". Then I put a 90 degree elbow on the "new" output that rests on the pump so it'll stand up. Also took the sponge out and put in a couple of screens. The screen was cut down to size so I took the extra outer material and made a "funnel" shape and inserted into the bottom as can be seen in the pic to even out the flow. The tumbling motion is very good! Now let's see if it makes a difference in a month or so...

Doesn't matter how much you have been reading until you take the plunge.
You don't know as much as you think.

Ya... I wasn't sure how much to use... the bag said to use 50-200ml for every 25G of net volume. It was a 500 ml bag, so I used about half of it (I did it by weight).

I was on other sites and some have recommended running 750ml for a 100G tank using 3 Phosban 150s or one large 550...

It seems nothing is an exact science, so we'll trial and error with this amount...
