Have you tried blowing air into the intake line? Prodding the impeller while turned on to see if it un-budges? My skimmer pump always causes me grief but a skewer into the pinwheel gets it going.

It used to start up after I blew in it. But, now I do that and it only starts up half the time. I've been smacking the pump and that seems to getter to start most of the time.
I just want to see what's out there. If I like what I see I'll change my skimmer.
Thanks for the help!

I used to have a huge problem with mine after changing to a big needle wheel. Blowing it worked for a couple months, then i had to start taking the front plate off and manually spin starting it. Cleaned it lots with a toothbrush, looked clean.

Then one day i soaked it in vinegar overnight... and now it starts by itself again.
