Question Spray foam and rock.

Hey guys. I have tried the search but can't find what I'm looking for. There was a post a while ago that showed how to make a fake rock wall out of spray foam, rocks and egg crate. I think it was a link to RC. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance

Loudest part of my system would be the nagging sound I hear on a regular basis about how much time and money I spend on the tank.

I think the foam's called great stuff foam. Here's one good thread on RC about it. I'm sure there's more out there too.

it is the black pond foam (kind of the great stuff) but black

I have it on my tank, and is gust great,

I made structures out of egcrate and sprayd them with it, I put one layer of live rock against it and within a month it was covered with coraline algea, so you dont se the differance any more between LR and foam

you can make caves, ledges and so much more, only dont forget to put it on a egcrate on the bottom, otherwise it will float up.

when you want to do your walls, also spray it on egcrate when on a newspaper ore so, and afterwards put it in your tank (best with euro bracing)

I can send you some pics from the build

as mentioned, I made structures from eggcrate and put the black spray foam on it.

than in front of the structure I have a 3/4 inch PVC pipe with 1/5 inch holes drilled into it., in total there are 4 induvidual pipes that all come up in the corner of the tank and are conected to a 4way splitter that is conected to a 1500GPH pump.

so when everything was in place I put my sand in the tank, and placed 1 row of rock on top of the PVC pipe and along the spray foamed structure.

there is a picture where you se the resolt afterwards (you can se what is rock and what is foam.

the PVC pipe on the bottom of the rock I use to fluch debris that might have gathered between the rock, so about each other day ore so, I fluch one zone for about 30 minutes, and than a day ore 2 later I flush the other.

not that it is needed, but I thought it was a need thing to put in, I dont se it, and it douse exactly what everyone recomends to avoid (debris build up)

I have more pic's if needed

forgot to mention that when it is in the water, the foam tends to schringk about 1/8 ore so.

this means when you spray it directly on the glass for a back wall, it could over time get loos, becouse it pulls itselve off by schringking.

other nice thing is that laterone you could gust plug in a frag, without the always ugly frag disc.

the ledge you se on the last picture isonly black foam covered in coraline algea, I put the galaxy on top of it and i sticked all other corals directly in the foam

Where can you get the black foam from locally? I tried to look it up online but the only hardware store that had it listed was Home Hardware which isn't particularly close nor cheap. I also want the foam specifically because of the UV resistance.
