You should be able to pick up single digital timers at any hardware store for like $12-15.

Default Best Timers on the market....

... are at J&L. The timers sell for about $9 each, have 15min increments AND best of all are three pronged (your metal halides probably have a ground, so you can't plug them into most "cheap" timers).

WalMart sells a digital power bar with built in Timer works great and it only costs 14$ with the added benifit of a built in circut breaker to help protect your investment should the unfortunate happen like a short I run one for each light and on select powerheads for over a year now and I would never go back to just a mechanical timer as they only work if the power is on the digital are battery backup so during power outages they never lose programing as well as the mechanical seem to bind up after a time and stick on or off. They also offer up to something like 20 some different on/off times per day

thanks guys im gonna go grab one tomorrow asap my tank and corals will be much happier with a regular light pattern i think
