Default Protein skimmer: Collection cup problem-need help.

Hi all I'm having a problem getting my collection cup off to clean. I have this skimmer here: http://www.jlaquatics.com/product/vt...0+Gallons.html

I'm trying to get it off but I can't and it needs to be cleaned out. Any help or ways to help me get it off?

No I tried. Maybe I'm grabing from the wrong place? Is this skimmer work differently than others?

This may sound silly, but have you contacted JL or Vertex ?

Should be just a pressure fitting. Grab a side of the collection cup and pull or push it and it will come right off.

Removal of the collection cup has never been as easy and effortless. The messy union locks and twist caps used by other competing products have been replaced by an insert cup seated atop a gasket seal; minimalism simplifying your routine

I know you just quoted what it says the the link I provided, I have read that many times before. No need to quote it on here. I think it's just stuck.

if you manage to get it off, maybe putting a small amount of petroleum jelly around the contact point would help?

Well if it's new it will take some time for it to loosen up. I have the vertex IN-180 which is a bit bigger than what you have. But i think there is no difference in design just the size of the skimmer. It was a bit tight when i first got it but eventually much easier to take off now.
If it is a used one probably do what was suggested above.
