plastic barrel question

Seems everything I buy, wondering if has a reef application. Just picked up a couple of plastic barrels, sold as food safe, would that also mean suitable for storage of water?

I would have guessed so. Doesn't get much "safer" than food safe, I think?

Heck, I'm using a Rubbermaid Plastic garbage can so I'm sure those will be fine.

been using the Rubbermaids for years as well, just this post has me thinking maybe to change.
