Default Hairy Mushroom

I have had this hairy mushroom for almost half a year now. I suddenly noticed 3 das ago that a hole appered in the centre of it , where the mouth used to be. It looks shrunken and doesn't open as it used to but it is sill alive. All other corals and fish in the tank are doing great. What could hav caused it? anything I can do to help it survive this trauma?

Thanks!

Maybe it's splitting into two. When this happens the mushroom will not be as inflated as usual. It's also looks kind of violent when it splits as it's literally tearing itself apart into two pieces. Give it a week to see what happens. Hairy mushrooms are very tough corals.

Yup, that's what it's doing. I gave one to my daughter and a few days after putting it in her tank it did the same thing you described. Now she has 2!
