Default I Hate Crabs!!!!

Bought a Firefish yesterday and last night he was fine, this morning he was fine. Went out shopping and 4 hours later I find my Emerald Crab enjoying a nice fish lunch.

Water parameters are all good. I don't know if it was the Emerald that got him or my mystery crab. I guess I'll be trying to remove both of them.

i have a small crab in almost every SPS colony.
They are nice and i like them.

The only crab that could gotten the fish would be a larger hermit like a blue knuckle... i have one too and after he ate my Copper Band Buterfly .... he is in the sump now.

I don't allow crabs in my systems. I don't like them either. They're fish killers.

i highly doubt it took down your fish. crabs are largely scavengers unless they are much bigger than the fish prey. chances are your fish was probably half dead before the crab got to it. i think a lot of people are just too paranoid when it comes to hitchers.

Crabs as most things of that nature are oportunistic...if the chance is there say goodbye. Same with anenomes, certain corals etc. Easy meal is an easy meal.

The CBB was still alive when i took it out of large blue knuckle hermit claws.
CBB was tiny. hermit got it at night. the fish was in very good health and purchased only 3 days before from J&L.

He is sharing the sump with small lobster now. the fish was tiny.
I am thinking of selling both the blue hermit and very small lobster.

BTW i had a camel shrimp in the sump and now its eaten too, dont know who got it though. All i found was shell leftovers with nasty smelling chunk of meet inside.
