![]() Can you please post photos of your eggcrate shelves? I'm trying to build a few of my own, but I'm having a hard time making them sturdy, and not too fugly.

![]() Ha! I'm far too embarassed to take a photo of my crude eggcrates shelves, but all I did was cut a piece that would fit where I wanted it, then used Weldon to mount a second piece of eggcrate at a 90 degree angle to make a lip. I then use a Magfloat on the lip to hold the shelf.
In retrospect I should have used acrylic or maybe some plastic light diffuser material because the eggcrate being 1/4"-3/8" is a little too thick for the Magfloat to give a really study hold. Something thinner is definitely called for, for the attachment lip anyhow. You could do a little rim still out of eggcrate just to help keep frags on the shelf since snails loooooooooooove knocking frags over in their little games of snail-frag-soccer.. ("Ooh! Frags! Fun!" ![]()

![]() Here's a link to my 140 G. build. I used eggcrate for towers and shelves. The eggcrate is holding up well and the paint is still sticking.

![]() Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
I'm thinking I may go with a combination of eggcrate and PVC pipe. I may also go ahead and paint them too, depending on the final look that i decide to go with. |

![]() What size PVC did you use?
I'm thinking of using 1/2" to support eggcrate shelving and then just making it to fit around a few rocks. |

![]() I used 3/4". I drilled it every couple inches to allow for circulation. Someone who came to pick up some frags from me made the suggestion to cap off the open ends, and hook up a powerhead to it. I might try this in the new tank. If you want some help with it let me know.
