Missing Slipper/Tongue Coral

Hi All
I've got a bit of a problem. When I looked in the tank at lights on the Slipper was mssing. All there was left to indicate it was there is a hole in the sand going under the rocks. It's been 2 days now and no show anywhere. Anyone ever had this problem before or know of it? How long can it go without light or food?. I have another one in the tank at the opposite corner and it is looking ok. I have been holding off tearing down the tank trying to find him hopeing he will show.
