Default Clam Question

Can a clam change its colour of its mantle? I picked up a Gold tear drop maxima about a month back in Calgary. Some days it looks much darker, closer to black around the outside. Maybe its just my eyes...

I don't know how much they can change colors. Its probably just the lighting because depending on what angle you look at my crocea it can look brown.. to blue.. to its actual green from above. If it looks a little darker I wouldn't worry. I would worry if it was fading its color or not fully expanding when the lights are on.

Mine changed color quite a bit, blue became more intense as it grew. But it also depends on the angle from which you look at them, they tend to fluoresce more when you look from the top.

Hahaha, well I'm pretty sure the maxima will never reach the size of a squamosa.
