how thick of glass will the magnet work on?

I just put one in my 50g 3ft.

Needless to say its on the first setting. Powerful and a very nice pump for flow.

Do you guys find it loud? I have a rw15 and a rw 20 and find them both to be loud no matter what the setting.

Mine is quiet. Just to large for my tank. Going to order a pair of the smaller models I think.
