Default Aren't hammer corals supposed to sting fish?

So I recently got a watchman goby and he's taken refuge next to a hammer coral. How come the hammer doesn't sting the goby? My other fish avoid swimming into it but this guy goes into it when he gets startled.

I have had clowns host in a large hammer coral I once had, didn't hurt him a bit.

I've got a torch coral that spreads out about 12-16" in diameter and pretty well all my fish swim around, through and in the tents. My six-line wrasse especially loves swimming in the branches of the torch.

Paul,

I think you're thinking more of anemones, rather than corals.
