Default drain piping

So for my drain piping, can i have it going straight down or is it a better idea to angle it?

picked up my gate valve for the drain. just want to double check if i can before i do it

You can do either, which ever supports your situation. I have one that goes mostly straight down, and the other angels over about 3 feet due to sump placement and desired results.
