Default high Alkinety and low Cal

I was told to use SEachem Complete to help this problem to safe reef parameters .
Do any of you have other suggestions?

I would stop using the seachem and control the mag level separately, alk may rebound for a bit but should level out once you establish a dosing regime

All your organisms within your tank use the ca and the carbonate at a fixed rate.

Before you try to fix something you need to find out why your alkalinity and calcium have gotten out of wack. What method have you been using to add alkalinity and calcium to your tank? What is your magnesium level?

Are you sure you are getting the right readings from your test kits?

My aquarium is 9 months now so i added some coral which all died the past month! but ya Mag is higher then 1600 , Alkinity is top of chart also and my Calcium is low ! Is there any suggestions on what brand i should start to dose Mag with ? thank you for your input also !

Default and I'm sure I'm getting the right results .

i am using red sea test kits which i heard are one of the best! oh and i add the Seachem Reef Complete directly to the tank! just started today with the stuff, I have a 72 gal tank with i believe around 5 Gal canister and skimmer also that skims up to 100 gal!

You need to post what your levels are

Magnesium
Alk
Calcium
Nitrate
Phosphate
PH

Saying off the chart or high isn’t helping us. We need numbers

Reef Complete is not a balanced calcium alkalinity solution. You shouldn't be adding anything unless you are sure why you are adding it. You do not need to add magnesium if you have 1600 ppm magnesium.

Ideally you should be managing your calcium and alkalinity either by using a balanced 2 part solution, kalkwasser or a calcium reactor.

You might be better off to get your numbers in check to do several large water changes or better yet many many smaller water changes.

Once you have your numbers in check then you find a good way to manage your calcium and alkalinity needs.

Default levels are :

KH/ALK=4.9 meq 13.7 dkh , Cal = 50, and Mag is higher then 1600 ppm . oh and and nitrate and PH are low and at safe levels i think ? don't have a phosphate test yet
