300 gal advice
Currently finalizing tank specs for an 80 “ long by 36” deep by 24” tall tank that will be at my shop.
Will be visible on 4 sides and see thru from office to shop. Either a 75 or 90 sump. Will be set up as a predator tank I think, that will give the most enjoyment to other people who are not involved in the hobby. I had a 250 blow out a few years back and last year set up a 180 sps at home with my old equipment so I’ve been out of the loop last few years. I will have pumps wired to switches for water changes LED lights (already own them) Currently have 60-80 lbs rock in my home tank and sump waiting for this What skimmer should I go with? Will have a 3 drain system and an apex. Any other recommendations?

I would probably look into adding more rock for biological filtration with a tank that size.
I think the biggest thing here to give you a recommendation on skimmer is budget! High Budget - Bubble King Medium Budget - Nyos Quantum Average Budget - Reef Octopus, Aquamaxx, Skimz Tiny Budget - Bubble Magus, Coral Box IMO you can never go wrong with a good old Reef Octopus classic skimmer. They are priced fairly and work very well. But there are tons of options out there. You can also look for the new line of Maxspect Jump skimmers if you can find them. They seem pretty awesome and are well priced.

Yes I definitely plan to add more rock that’s just currently what I have curing in my current tank waiting for this one.
I’ll look into the skimmers you suggested. My buddy had a bubble king and I wasn’t overly impressed. But it’s been a while since I’ve seen it in action

Good - Super Reef Octopus 5000 or 5000SSS
Better - Reef Octopus Regal 250INT or 250SSS Best - Reef Octopus Elite 200INT or 200 SSS Super Cone (SSS = pump inside the body) (INT = pump outside the body) But both are in sump skimmers.

Well I’ve started ordering and collecting stuff and things.
I have Ordered The tank. Euro braced 80”x36”deep x24” tall with bean animal overflow Nyos Quantum 300 skimmer 2-MP40 QD Full apex with screen Apex auto feeder 4 heaters Couple mag pumps for my water change setup. Will just be flipping light switches Test kits Refractometer 3 more buckets aquaforest reef salt. My brother came by and went over a stand layout so he’s gonna weld that up in the next 2 weeks. I have a couple dedicated 20A circuits in place. I’m hoping if I hang my 48” LED light high enough I will have enough spread to not get dark spots but we will see.
