Default video card help

Have a Dell Dimension 4000 and kid purchased a game through school (Roller Coaster Tycoon) that has a video requirement of 64MB Hardware T&L compatible (and a note GeForce 4MX or Intel Extreme Graphics not supported) so seems the current 32MB ATI Rage 128 Ultra won't cut it.

As this is a old machine but works perfectly well for my uses (Canreef) don't really need to replace or spent a bunch of money on a new card so have a couple of questions
- would this NVIDIA card work in my PC: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX23016(ME).aspx
-though is GeForce, not a 4 MX, would it meet the games requirements?

Considering that it is a PCI-E video card, I don't think your computer will actually have a spot to put one if it is older. You probably have an AGP port instead.

Yes an Nvidia card will work. But you will have to verify what socket your motherboard supports. It will either be AGP or PCI Express (PCIe)

I'm going to assume it's a AGP slot. If it is you will have to find out if it's 2X, 4X or 8X Odds are it's 8X. Then just get a new 8X AGP graphics card

So looking like I have a AGP video card, and now seeing my PCI slots can't do video and isn't the same as a PCI-E slot which the NVIDIA video card seems to be.

So my only option will be a AGP video card.

Thanks all.

Default what's hardware shader support and would this card have it

note on the game "video cards that do not have hardware shader support such as the GeForce 4 MX or the Intel Extreme Graphics are not supported"

How does one tell if a card has shader support, does this one? http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX10384(ME).aspx

That one would work fine Mark, rollercoaster tycoon is over a decade old so any new video card out there will work for ya.
