Default Captive Bred Fish for a 37gallon reef tk

HI,

Looking for ideas for fish in my mixed reef tank. Tank is soft/lPS/SPS and has one purple firefish, (I realize its wild caught...). Other then clowns, I honestly don't know whats out there.

Thanks for any help!

Ora sells a few captive bred fish:

Sometimes you will see them in stores.

a couple more links:

An interesting forum for people trying to breed marine animals:

The ORA fish are a good bet as most Canadian LFS can order them. I have an ORA neon dottyback that is a nice looking fish.

Check out the thread from Blue World Aquatics recently. He brought in Assessors, some types of Blennies, Goby's and Dottybacks that were from ORA. All would work in a 37 gallon tank. You could also look at a lot of different type of cardinal fish, such as the Pajama or Bangaai's, as they are also captive bred sometimes.

Default fishbase

So are you wanting to go captive bred to take it easy on wild caught populations and the reef?

If so one other thing to consider is using:

http://fishbase.org/search.php

to determine how resilient a given species is. If you scroll down on any given fish page you will see resilience comments and vulnerability rating.

Some fish reproduce like rats to fill a niche to capacity in no time and others go really slowly. Your Purple Firefish for instance has a low vulnerability rating of 10 out of 100. So it looks like they are not going to be fished out anytime soon.
