Default periwinkle snails

Hi all

I just spoke to my friend who uses those snails to feed his mantis shrimp and clean his tank.

Since I live in BC, these snails are right off the coast and are very cheap.

My question is: can I keep them in a reef tank or will they eat the corals?

thanks

they will die rather quickly in the tempatures of our tanks. there metabolism is set up for 48 degree watter so they can't handle the 80ish tems that we use. if there are just for a food source and they are eaten right away that might be ok but if your friend is putting 10 in, then likely the tempature is killing most of them.
