I had read that teeing of some of the overflow water directly into the fuge is the way to go. I guess it provides more nutrients for the pods.

I would still go after the case of beer as the nut is usually on the out side for access. It can be a little diffucult to tighten when its at the bottom of a 2 foot deep overflow.

A 1" pipe will slip into the bottom of a 1" bulkhead. Just use primer and PVC glue. If your bulkhead happens to be threaded internally on both ends then you will need an adaptor for it.
