In my first tank (28 bowfront) I used tuffa and found it to be a cyano magnet because it collects a lot of detritus. I would go with all live rock, even if you can't afford it now, save up and buy it...

When I moved my tank last spring I lost most of my pods and eventually my manderine. I think the stress of moving made him stop eating because there were still enough pods in the tank after the move...

On my 65 gallon I have a 2.5" hole fitted with a 1.5" bulkhead. My return is a Mag 9.5 (950gph@ 0' head) that pumps about 650-700gph at 5'. The bulkhead hole is 75% full with that flow.
