I have a deep water turaki that loves intense light and high flow. Had it at the bottom of the tank for a while and it did ok there but does way better higher up.

I made my own needle wheel pump out of a regular Rio 1200. Drilled 2 tiny holes in each impeller then used an exacto knife to cut notches into every blade. Seems to work ok on my skimmer.

Mine has bubble algae in it. Every couple of weeks I'll shut off the gate valve and force all the water through the emergancy drain into the sump, put a bag over the pvc pipe and catch it that way.

Just brushed up on my reading again on Randy Holmes-Farley's dosing methods. You could go either way with your Mg. Plain epsom salts (MgSO4) or both MgSO4 and MgCl2.

I don't remember exactly. Must have been 4 or 5 days. It destroyed the cloves fairly quickly and I noticed the hydroids starting to disappear so I let it go a bit longer to try to clear them up.

I found out the hard way with a sand sifting star a few years ago. Didn't slow drip him and soon after he started dropping his arms until he finally died. Live and learn I guess.

Not necessarily. My maxima was only 1.5" and did not need any supplemental feeding. I was a bit uneasy about buying one this small but was assured by Ken @ BW that he'd be just fine without feeding....
