I suspect they will be similar to dry rock + bacteria additive (e.g. microbacter). Until someone tries them in a reef aquarium nobody can know for sure. Go for it and let us know your results.

Thanks. Yeah, I agree. I've had a hard time finding dry rock pieces I like. Most are large round balls. I've got a large round ball I'm going to try dremelling into the shape I'm looking for.
