I have had wood stands in the past before I had the place to build all my own stuff, they got mold, where actually heavier then metal and did not have as much room as metal stands do.

Its deep enough to keep the fish in the pond over winter just have to add a couple air diffusers, redirect the pumps to flow under 24' of water and add a couple electric floating heaters.
