T5's are fluorescent bulbs, correct. I think the reason for their popularity is that they are much thinner, and don't block nearly as much of the light reflection. Which brings me to my next point....

With SPS, I would say it's not enough flow. For most soft corals, it probably is. The Koralia pumps perform well and are less bulky than many of their counterparts.
