I agree, I got ine a few weeks ago but have yet to upgrade to VHO lighting so its a bit on the white side for me otherwise much brighter and my corals are growing and coloring up nicely :)

I have a dual overflow and have a mag 9.5 on mine with 2 stockman standpipes, when I only had 1 it mad the same gurgling noise because it couldn't keep up with the flow and was trying to push it...

ASM G2 for me.. Get the G3 and you'll be happy. The G2 comes with what I htink is an underpowered pump. Pretty much plus and play but there are alot of mods that can be done to enhance performance.....

I would think they could be cut at the opposite end but would need to be cappped since otherwise the wire would be exposed.. Never tryed myself though.
