The center section of the hood in that pic was 12 inches. It has now been cut down to 6 inches so the lights are 10 inches of the water now

I agree on the packing I am starting to wonder how much of the total cost
was packing lol .Depth of water in your sump seems to make no difference in the performance.

IMO the pm is probably slightly better for skimming but euro reef is quieter and much easier to set up and no messing around with adjustments . The question comes down to whats important to you.
