Sounds like the best way would be to add 1/2...

Sounds like the best way would be to add 1/2 plates to each end of the stand to clear the hump, then shim the hump area.

This is 100% correct, I have seen way too many tanks with oils slick syndrome, always have the surface water move to the overflow box.

The foam in the overflow box doesn't sound quite right...

I just did a special for a customer, all done with just two 4"...
