Steve, see that's what confuses me, if I bump the tower I get a cloud of kalk, it's not settling down and compacting. I suppose I could add a powerhead etc to it but that just makes for even more...

Yours being 10 inches front to back will be difficult to decorate. I guess it would make an interesting fish only tank though.

Interesting way of testing but, the GH test kit measures calcium and magnesium together as well as other dissolved salts, so I'm not clear...
