just run it under hot water for a minute to shrink the seal a little. It has worked for me when I cant get it open.

although it is said to be better to use calibration fluid, I find it hard to come by (maybe its just my area) so I use ro/di as well. IF it was readily accessible to me, I would be using it though.

yup. try re-calibrating and see if that helps. Whenever I get a reading I am not sure is right, I will re calibrate. It's easy to do and that way you can trust your readings.

If you dont want a cucumber, get a sand dollar. They are not that common in the pet stores, but if you can find one, do a wonderful job of keeping the sand clean.
