I agree, after changing lamps and ballasts you will be close to the price of a higher quality fixture. I think it depends on what you plan on keeping. For softies this light will do the job, and LPS...

I think the Coralife's you are looking at are...
I think the Coralife's you are looking at are Power Compact. I would go T5HO over PC for sure. I would stay away from coralife, not the best quality. High Output T5's have specific ballasts and lamps.
