If you don't mind putting two smallish holes in your roof you could suspend the whole thing on two pieces of aircraft cable. Paired with some adjustable anchors it would be infinitely adjustable....

I found it worked great where the glass wasn't touching the adjoining pane. Make two little handles out of wood dowels so you don't destroy your fingers in the process. Good luck.
