It might have been your mag. My Zenias were doing the same thing but then I changed salts with more mag (after being told to try this by one of my lfs) and now I am always trimming back the Zenias....

I like this experiment, if it proves that one growing fish can not wipe out all your sps then i may need to try out a couple of coral eating butterflys in a larger tank with plenty of SPS.
