I usually pull the skin off, sometimes I leave it on thinking a little roughage can't be so bad. When they eat fish in nature or in your tank it's bones and all so it can't hurt.

I would say for sure! I went from 150w to 250w for just that reason to increase the colors and the intensity of the colors. Big difference so 175w -400w would be more so.
