I wonder if this would even work.. simple as it is.. maybe a powerhead across the surface as well to provide for more circulation.

Ahh this is starting to seem more complicated then I imagined heheh. I am not terribly concerned about bubbles. All I care about is that the pumps on each side are are separated off from the sandbed...

yes, I forgot to mention that there will be a float switch incorperated in to here somewhere..
the sump dimentions are 30lx13hx16w.

delphinus following up, the red thing is a grounding probe I made with a peice of titanium bike spoke and an inline wire connector.

Hey titus, why not a different subject? Sump/fuge is pretty weird.. I mean how do you get a nice artistic shot of a sump? Unless it's a very impressive set up, I don't see it being a hugely popular...

Also keep in mind the HQIs last longer too.
Or IMO you could do the smart thing and go...

Steve, I have read from a few people's experiences that they have not had amazing growth results on 150w HQIs. I've lookied in to it.. I had the oppertunity to pay a bit extra and go 150w hqi instead...

Does xenia release toxins when it dies?
I have had this happen many times when I'm "trimming" my xenia. I wouldn't worry about it. It will just settle down somewhere and unless it has light and can attache to something, it will just wither...

Shao, if the lighting is just for growing macro algea, I'd recommend a mini halagen lamp instead of going halide.. You don't need the full spectrum for macro algea (from what I've been told).
