I think you can run a tank just fine without a skimmer. However once you get into the bigger tanks a skimmer is almost a necessity, due to the amount of time and money required to due major upkeep...

Sometimes water treatment centers will add chemicals to the water to solve certain problems. Which in turn creates problems for yourself....

That is a very bad assumption.

It is a good idea to replace standard outlets with GFCI outlets, when near water. (Like our Aquariums)
