My friend had a orange spot file fish in his sps tank and while no polyps were out the colours on his sps...

Is the crab a greenish colour? If it is it could possibly be a emerald, from the pics it looks similar as emeralds can get hairs on legs and body.

Alk and ca precipitation would make your water cloudy in the coloumn like haze or fog, then it would settle on the bottom like malm. The film on the glass definitely sounds like bacteria.
