Yup, it only took a day for my reef crew to devour a flame angel. Leave them in there if you can't find them and just watch out for ammonia.

I too have downgraded my sump flow to about 650-700 gph. I haven't really noticed the skimmer pulling any more skimate out of the water though. Did you?

A 1.5 inch hole can handle 1200 gph. After head and linear footage loss you should be able to run any 1200 gph pump quite safely.

If you know the size of it you could use the calculator on reef central to figure out the rate.

It seems that I'm in the middle of the small tank vs. Big tank with a total volume of about 90 gallons. So far I add Ca+ and 2 part Alk buffers. I'm just wondering at what point does it become more...

I'm not sure if I agree with the whole inches per gallon theory myself. perhaps if you were dealing with a tank with only tangs, or clowns. Most reef tanks have a mixture of fish which all have...

Jim, you could fill that bucket and your sump with some live rock, but baffles are the best solution.
