Pros and Cons to UVfiltration in a Reef tank?

I was just wondering what problems might occur in a reef tank while using UV and would running it only at night or day or when needed make the problems go away?

Thanks

I am pretty tall and have to use a stool to reach the bottom of 30 inch tanks. If you aren't around 6 foot 3 or taller it could be a problem reaching the bottom.

I read it again and it says to heat the RO water to 90 C then let the carbon soak for 24 hours while it cools. Makes sense now.
