skimmer only systems
With an good amount of LR or LS, a skimmer is really all you need for nice stable system. Some even run systems without skimmers.

80 bucks actually seems a bit much for a bare 400 W ballast.
A good brand name for ballasts would be advance, which is available at a few places in the Lower mainland.

the garlic was working well.. but it seems oodinium took for the tank, and within 2 days my whole stock died. images/smiles/icon_sad.gif

For those in Vancouver: Westcoast Lighting in PoCo, sells many good industrial lighting supplies.. Mainly Advance Ballasts, which are preferred.
