I used a water based stain and did 2 coats. I didnt prep the surface like I should have, but the stain looks even to me. I used a staining sponge to apply it, not a brush.

Well I believe 1/2" oak ply is $80 where as the 1/2" Birtch ply is $59. This is per 4'x8' sheet.

I think it really depends on what kind of sand bed you have. If it's a deep one, then it may be a little more tricky...

I'm not associated with TBS, I just really like their rock =). Like I said in the other post, I didnt have it shipped (not worth it unless you do LARGE quantities) and I picked it up in the states.

you should take a sheet of plexi glass and paint it and just put it behind the tank. That way you can remove it or change the color any time you want.
