So the fish are sold, and the vast majority of the corals. At this point I've got what I wanted out of the sale of the corals -- so it's sort of a free for all now. If you want and frags or bits that...

Tank Shutdown Kamloops 200Gal

Shutting Down my 200Gal reef, and just waiting for all the livestock to go before I start ripping out equipment, but I figured I'd list it now anyways. As I'd rather have this done with soon than...

Tank shutdown Kamloops

Shutting down my 200Gal tank. So first to go is the livestock, then the tank/equpiment. All prices are flexible as I would rather take care of the shutdown sooner than later, so I'm open to offers on...

Dont' use those

I do a LOT of long USB runs at work, the ones that are just a long USB cord with a bit of "active bootsing" just don't work well for the long runs.

What we do end up using is a USB over cat5...

what kind of rock

I have some smaller bits --- 1-2 lbs each sitting in my sump that I've been thinking about cleaning out and re-doing a few things. More like "big tank rubble" that was extra I got cheap but didn't...

220 gal power

I use a couple of fancy network controlled power bars that give me pretty accurate power readings (down to 2 decimals).
On my 220, it peaks out at about 7.2 amps and the average is approx 3 amps....

It's cause the weekends

The gas prices magically seem to concide with busier weekends, mostly due to all the major highways passing through. So friday afternoon -- 1.25, and monday morning 1.12

BTW, welcome to...

thank goodness

Thankfully some else said this first.
I was starting to panic a little thinking " Am I the only crazy person that fires things up after a very short cure time"?

I do try to do it in very small...

why not make it?

Really, a USB cable is pretty simple -- just take a a single short Usb, cut it, and insert a 50' length of Cat 6 STP or even some cheap cat5e cable?

Should only cost about $10 or so to make up...

The other reason for not 100%

Just getting to the original question -- and I'm amazed no one has mentioned or seem to have considered in a build, but the efficiency curve of all LED's in not a straight line. The lumens per watt...

I got lucky!

At a time just after I had a "little" mishap with water from the tank and the wife was not very happy, we discovered that the one and only thing that calms my son (now 2 years old) was the fish tank....

2 Things I've learned.

First -- take a small bit of plexi and drill it first and use it as a guide. I tried plywood, but I found it much nicer to still see what I'm doing. Clamp the guide in place and the bit won't "jump"...

I'm confused

So, his large 12mm glass cracked on the side of the tank, and the "fix" is to silicone (badly) a large peice of 6mm over the crack on the inside?

Think about this for a moment:

1) half the...

Not much condensate, and the flaps might be needed

OK, first the flaps -- and HRV is usually installed with 2 flappers to "balance" the air pressure with the outside air. Due to imbalanced duct lengths and other pressure issues, the flaps get...

Bang for...

After floods, failures and all sorts of bad things I've figured this routine out now.

Something bad happens, lets say a pump failure and you just run 1 main pump for almost everything. You in a...

BC eco grants

Just as I was looking this up -- currently between the BC and federal eco energy rebate program if you get high enough "air sealing" and install an HRV you can get $1375 in rebates. As this doesn't...

And since I forgot to mention it in...

I've had mine for about 2 years now. Just before I installed it I was going through all the eco energy rebates in BC for the new furnace and heat pump, insulation etc. I found that with all the extra...

I'm cheap

I read a lot of post about ppl getting upset about being "low-balled". I'm wondering if there is a different definition than the one I know. "Making a low offer"!
I do low-ball on larger items. And...
