I wouldn't do it, the tank would be weak and would probably start leaking. The only way you could do that is use extra thick glass for a small volume tank, then there would be enough glue surface...

Possibly Vibrant? Watch the BRS videos on Vibrant, it worked great for green algae, don't know what it would do against the red. Never used it myself.
