Has it ever come up for Canreef to have a tank of the month?

I figured, the easiest way to do it, is to have another forum section, that allows only a mod to start a new thread, however other members can post up. Anyone who wants to have their tank nominated (or if someone wants to nominate someone elses tank) they have to let one of the mods know.

All specs should be given in with the tank as well. And many pics a must!

comments?

Hello,

We used to have that but like mentioned, the same individuals always dominate the contests. I suppose there's a good or bad side of it.

There's also a prize issue, we do not have sponsors to give away prizes. It is more of a recognition thing.

We'll see. When we get more members perhaps we can have a contest of some sort again.

I think we can do it just for the title alone, no prizes required. And Jamie already one one, and I'm not in the competing mood these days. There are lots of nice tanks belonging to our members, so I say what the hell! How much interest is there in submitting tank shots?

I like the idea. Maybe not nicest tanks necessarily but ones with a lot of thought put into them and that have potential. Maybe when I set my nano up I will have a chance.

Sure. Maybe even photo of the month as an alternative?

Some people have awesome pictures and macro shots to share.

How about a "Featured Reef" instead of a tank of the month? Doesn't have to be the fanciest setup, biggest corals...etc. Just profile a different tank every month so we can all appreciate each others' work and get to know each others' setups.

Something like this feasible?

Hello,

I certainly think Featured Reef or Featured Setup is a nice way of putting it. We can put a nice big photo right at the main page. Um.. this could get interesting. Now that I think about it, Featured DIY, Featured Recipe, etc... Wow! Good idea.

another idea to keep the same people from winning all the time is have it so once you win you are ineligible for 12 months.
