When it comes to running a protein skimmer some reefers quote that they have been "skimming hard". I am a newbie when it comes to working with skimmers. Can someone explain the term to me.

Hmmm, really not sure what that means. Usually we talk about skimming wet or dry.

If this a term used I have never heard it. So I am interested to hear what others say.

Maybe it means to oversize the skimmer? Just a guess.

Last time i checked skim hard means the same as to skim dry,
which is running your skimmer to produce dry bubbles which means more compounds collected, and if you skim wet you are also skimming soft, which means more bubbles but less compounds collected:biggrin:

That makes total sence, I guess that I skim hard then. Thanks for the feedback
