Temp solid at 80.2 with the help of my chiller, yes that's right I have to run a chiller all year round on this set-up. That will change on the new set-up.
79 during the day
just above 78 at night so lets say 78.5

old tank was 78-80 new tank is 77-80.
old tank was dialed to 79. heaters came on at 78 and chiller ran at 80.
new tank is dialed a degree lower to give the tank more fight against 4 halides. over the course of the day i'm seeing the tank eventually reach 80 and not go over. goal is to not run a chiller anymore.

79F at night to 81F during the day. If it's hot in the house during the day it can hit 82-83F (rarely happens).

I hear ya grizz, my chiller runs year round as well. Heated and cooled to maintain 79.5 +/- half a degree.

Mine runs 79 during the day, 78 at night in the winter. Usually stays steady at 79 all summer. If its really hot and humid it might creep up to just above 80.

26-27 not much of a swing. Heater is on up till 26 and chiller kicks on at 27.
I don't use a heater on my reef. Halides + fan put the tank up to 81F and at night it drops to 78F. In the summer it goes up to 84. I would like my tank to stay under 80, but I won't use a chiller.

, but I won't use a chiller.
Why not?
Why not?
Because it will cook MY butt (unless I install it outside in which case I really don't have a remotely easy to do that), and it costs too much to run. AND because my reef does ok at the summer temps, so F it.

Fair enough :) I had a small unit inside for a while, and ya, it kept my house "warm". My new large chiller is outside. It also runs so infrequently that it doesn't cost much, so overall a good way for me to manage temps.

My heater has never even been plugged in. Summer time my tank almost hit 90 so in went the chiller. Now that it winter and my in floor heat is on I still need the chiller but it does not work as hard.

225g: 78 to 80 summer: 78 to 81
90g: 77.5 to 79 summer: 77.5 to 79
78.5 +/- 0.5
LED's dont seem to add any heat what so ever and the profilux keeps the temp stable.... almost flat line stable.

My canopy doesn't have any fans in it either. I'm sure I could get it down another couple degrees if I installed fans up there, but I just haven't gotten around to that. The sump has fans...I accidentally left the fans on overnight lastnight and the tank is now at 75F. Oops. I don't have room on the halide timer to put the fans on there, and the T5s don't run while the halides are on. That's something I should get around to fixing too... ;)

I'm certainly not selling my chiller I'll say that. It's underpowered for the volume I run now but I need to see how things work in the summer. Basement will still be cool but it's safe to assume not quite as cool.
Someone was over yesterday and when I explained how the ranco worked and that i didn't want to run a chiller due to energy use they reminded me of my lighting. guess i gotta try where i can tho

Same. Mines due to the lights and the 30ft of plumbing it has to reach the sump.

Mine swings from min 78 to max 81 when the controller switches from MH to PC.
I only hit 81 in the summer. Usually it maxes out around 80.7 each day.

I've never seen my tank above 81/82 and that was at the tail end of a heatwave, stands to reason because you have more water volume and lower wattage lighting you should be fine.

mine stays at 78-79, it might hit 82 in the hot summer months. Its quite something how much your temp. will drop by just blowing a small fan across the surface. I can drop my temp down about 3 degrees over a 7-8 hr. period if things get to hot. Heavy evaporation though.

currently running 76F +/- about 0.4F, basement sump, LEDs, no chiller. Considering dropping to 74 to save heating cost but I've never had a tank down to that before, anyone else?

Since I put a controller on the tank it runs at 76.9-77.1. It helps that the tank is in a basement that so far has not got over 72 in the summer. I only moved into the new house at the end of August though.
